Role Introduction
Reports to: Infrastructure Manager - Workplace
To drive the strategic goals of Infrastructure & Operations team. In collaboration with key stakeholders, the incumbent should understand how and how well the business is supported by IT. To manage a team of internal and external Infrastructure professionals to design, build and support infrastructure platforms and services needed to meet business, application development and operation requirements of the organisation.
Responsibilities
- Accountable for allocation of resources and responsibilities to deliver required results around cost, quality and time
- Develop performance and competency of team through expert coaching and mentoring of technical team members
- Use appropriate processes and tools to create systems, or services, on a technical infrastructure which supports business demands, which are resilient, secure and highly available
- Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives within own area
- Accountable for ensuring Infrastructure team fully understand, follow and champion technology standards and patterns as defined within Information Technology
- Define and champion use of such standards, procedures and best practices within team
- Monitor and ensure compliance to corporate control standards for quality and security
- Provide technical leadership and escalation support for resolution of incidents and problems within production, staging and test environments
- Obtain requirements signoff from both business and Information Technology (IT) Stakeholders
- Responsible for working closely with various stakeholders to ensure the IT infrastructure asset is delivered aligning with the strategic IT and business roadmap
- Provides technical leadership and escalation support for resolution of incidents and problems within staging and test environments
- Provides expert level support in area of technical specialization, ensuring prompt and accurate resolution of challenges
- Proactively draw out all types of requirements of the IT Infrastructure from stakeholders by using a variety of elicitation techniques (e.g. interviewing, modelling, and surveying)
- Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high level information into details and distinguish users’ requests from the underlying business problems
- Obtain requirements signoff from both business and Information Management (IM) Stakeholders
- Communicate the proposed design solutions to the stakeholders and help to guide decisions regarding trade-offs that impact the requirements
- Provides technical advice to Information Technology (IMT) colleagues on the use of the IT Infrastructure and integration of various business applications onto the enterprise infrastructure
- Shows initiative and makes time available to ensure general technical competencies and specializations are kept up-to-date in line with industry developments for self and team
- Collaborate with other IT domains to drive business and technology innovation
- Keep abreast of the corporate strategy, business plan and latest industrial trends and technologies to allow these to be leveraged to the business benefit of the company
Requirements
- Technical degree holder with minimum of 10 years IT experience, at least 5 years of IT Infrastructure experience and 3 years of team management responsibility
- Ability to allocate and supervise delivery of work within a team of technical resources
- Must have experience of leading team, and be able to demonstrate effective coaching and mentoring style
- Must have proven technical management and specialist experience of working in a complex IT infrastructure environment
- Must have experience of developing solutions and making decisions for team with only minimal management guidance and supervision
- Must have experience of building and maintaining relationships at a senior level and have an ability to influence at all levels
- Ability to listen and articulate ideas verbally, and in the written form, to a broad range of audiences; ability to ask probing questions and deliver presentations
- Well-developed analytical, problem-solving, decision-making and critical thinking skills, leveraging both logic and creativity; strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills; ability to identify patterns and generate informed ideas
- Focus on end user’s or customer’s needs; ability to set expectations and understand end user behaviour
- Ability and willingness to proactively accept and drive change to accomplish positive collective outcomes
- Ability to understand strategy and align tactical and strategic work in a well-balanced way to achieve results
- Available to provide 24/7 support as required
 DESIRED SKILLS
- Competency in Desktop standard operating environment, Microsoft Active Directory, Office365, IDM & IAM products, MDM/EMM/UEM technologies, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure; with broad understanding of other current and emerging technologies. In at least one of the following technical specializations, with broad understanding of other current and emerging technologies
