Role Introduction

Reports to: Head of Internal Communications & Engagement
An instinctive communicator and strong creative writer, you will be responsible for engaging employees across the business with timely, relevant and interesting content. You will work with the Internal Communications Manager and partners across the business to create stories, content and campaigns that bring our brand and the employee experience to life and support our broader company strategy and vision of the airline. You will be able to turn content around at speed, think outside of the box, know how to get the most out of digital communication technologies and have a modern mindset to improve our internal communications channel mix and positively impact employee engagement.
Responsibilities
- Produce timely reactive and proactive internal communications that support Cathay’s strategic direction, deepens understanding of its business and celebrates its people
- Plan, write and edit engaging content with an employee focus, that spans the internal communications channel mix including our digital employee portal (intranet), videos, e-newsletters, digital screens, social media and other online and offline channels to engage our geographically dispersed workforce
- Plan, write and edit leadership communications that connect Cathay’s senior leadership team to the business with their own tone of voice
- Develop creative and unique ways to deliver compelling content about our business and from our leadership team
- Support the Internal Communications Manager in running Cathay’s digital employee portal (The Hub) as the central communications point – including content creation, improving the user experience, optimising the platform, stakeholder management, and building an online community
- Plan and produce inspiring communication campaigns with a difference that capture the imagination of our employees
- Deliver and improve upon the regular newsletters to global employees
- Support stakeholders across the business with their communications requirements and ensure communications are of a high standard across our channels
- Support the team’s communication requirements in crisis situations
Requirements
- Degree in journalism, communications, marketing or related discipline
- 5+ years in internal/external communication-related or journalist roles. Agency experience (communications, PR or marketing) would be desirable
- Excellent written English communication/copy writing skills (Chinese advantageous)
- Demonstrated experience in managing editorial calendars and creating content for digital platforms, including social media channels
- Strong project management skills, able to drive communication initiatives from ideation to execution
- Ability to think strategically and creatively in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills and good judgment; able to build rapport with people at all levels of seniority
- Strong attention to detail and an ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing demands
- A tech-savvy innovator who can confidently manage various digital communication channels
- A curious and friendly communicator who can adapt their style for different channels and audiences
- A proactive personality who enjoys uncovering the human angle to a story
- Action-orientated and self-motivated
