Role Introduction


Reports to: Financial Reporting Manager
The Assistant Financial Reporting Manager / Financial Accountant will play a pivotal role in the Cathay Group Financial Reporting Team in the provision of summary & detailed financial analysis, and insightful statutory and management reporting for Shareholders & Directors.
More experienced candidates will be considered for the role of Assistant Financial Reporting Manager.
Responsibilities
- Ensure timely and accurate production of monthly management reports including consolidating data from various sources for meaningful variance and other analysis
- Support in the planning, coordination and production of interim and annual group and entity level financial statements, accounting schedules and related external reporting deliverables
- Determine appropriate accounting treatment and internal policy for transactions in accordance with accounting standards and management reporting needs
- Oversee centralised group-wide lease management and accounting for IFRS16
- Implement internal control processes to enhance quality, consistency, and accuracy of reporting
- Assist in addressing queries from external and internal auditors
- Partner with the Financial Planning and Analysis team to provide financial analysis in support of forecasting and budget initiatives
- Lead the execution of monthly system closing
- Streamline intercompany reconciliations
- Handle full sets of statutory accounts for investment holding subsidiaries
- Drive improved efficiency and effectiveness across related processes
- Coach, guide and review work of team members
- Perform ad hoc assignments as and when required
Requirements
- Degree holder and Qualified Accountant (CPA or equivalent)
- Audit experience with internationally recognised audit firms a definite plus
- Minimum 5 years' relevant experience of which 2 years' experience in a supervisory role
- Experience in preparing audit schedules, audit responses and financial statements preferred
- Experience in using SAP advantageous
- Strong analytical mind and interpersonal skills
- Strong skills in MS Office applications, especially in Excel
- Good command of spoken and written English and Cantonese/Chinese
- Takes accountability for executing tasks to a high standard
- Able to work under pressure and be flexible when necessary to meet deadlines
- Takes the initiative to look at process and efficiency improvements
- Proactively seeks guidance and asks thoughtful questions
- A good team player working collaboratively with others
