Overall purpose of the job
The Action Coordinator is a member of the Greenpeace East Asia Action Team, primarily responsible for furthering Greenpeace East Asia's campaign objectives through ongoing strategic and tactical planning with Greenpeace campaigners and the deployment of innovative, creative, confrontational and inspirational non-violent direct actions. He or she is responsible for working directly with the Head of Action Unit and programme staff in evaluating appropriate tactics and timing for these events based on campaign strategies and objectives.
Scope
This role is very detail-oriented, involves multiple concurrent daily deadlines and tasks, and requires ability to perform under pressure and in physically or mentally challenging situations.
Responsibilities
Conceptual tasks, Strategy development and/or Project management
- Provide strategic advice on the use of NVDA, activities and events in campaign projects.
- Keep abreast of useful information, resources, equipment, tools, technical and technological development in related fields, to ensure action capacity is up-to-date.
- Develop training programs to ensure action capacity is maintained
Implementation
- Plan, develop and implement creative and effective actions, activities and events to support campaign goals.
- Provide thorough and professional assessment of the local legal, political and cultural situations that may affect the NVDA, activities and events, and develop mitigation strategies and plans accordingly
- Maintain, develop and properly manage action warehouse, equipment and inventory
- Provide logistical support for Greenpeace fieldwork, activities and events
- Liaise with other Greenpeace offices and Greenpeace International for action-related issues.
Support/ Coaching/ Leadership
- recruit, cultivate and manage a group of volunteers and activists and motivate them to participate in Greenpeace actions and activities
- Deliver action training for staff and activists.
Compliance/ Keeping Framework Conditions
Ensure protocols of action planning and implementation are properly followed
-Ensure that actions are comprehensively reviewed and/or evaluated as per internal evaluation process
- Ensure all NVDA adhere to the agreed safety standards
- Manage contractors as required in compliance with Greenpeace East Asia policies.
